London, Aug 31 (ANI): The movie 'World War Z', starring Brad Pitt, has finished filming its scenes in Glasgow.
The movie had been shooting scenes since 15 August, with a cast and crew of about 1,200 people being involved.
Parts of the city have been transformed to replicate Philadelphia, where some of the post-apocalyptic movie is set.
The producer of the zombie movie, Jeremy Kleiner, said the cast and crew had enjoyed "a very successful shoot" in Glasgow and found the city "incredibly welcoming".
"We filmed some key scenes for World War Z here in Glasgow," the BBC quoted Kleiner as saying on the final day of production.
"The cooperation we had from the Glasgow Film Office and indeed from across the city council made it all possible, and the people of Glasgow were incredibly welcoming. It's been a very successful shoot here," he added.
George Square and several surrounding roads had been closed during the filming, and Glasgow City Council said the restrictions on motorists and pedestrians would be lifted from 23:59 on August 31.
"The past fortnight has been memorable for Glasgow. Our great anticipation of what World War Z would bring to the city was matched by the amazing transformation of George Square and the surrounding streets into the centre of Philadelphia," council leader Gordon Matheson said.
"One of the most satisfying elements of this time was Glasgow proving that we have the infrastructure to host a production on such a scale, a showcase that will hopefully bring many more major films here.
"I am delighted to pay tribute to Glasgow Film Office in attracting the production to the city and to all the other council staff who helped to ensure the smooth running of World War Z," he stated. (ANI)
