London, Aug 30(ANI): British Formula One ace Jenson Button is urging McLaren chief Martin Whitmarsh to sign him up for another season.
According to the Sun, Button is the only driver with a top-four team without a guaranteed seat for 2012 and is eager for McLaren to take up the option on his contract.
When asked if he will stay with the team, Button said: "Well, if he [Whitmarsh] takes up the option... All he has to do is say 'yes' and I will say 'yes' because I want to be here next year."It's up to the team as to when they approach me, but for me I'm the happiest I've been with the car," he added.
Button is currently fourth in the world championship, 110 points behind leader Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull with seven races left. he 31-year-old had joined McLaren after winning the world title with Brawn GP in 2009. (ANI)
