Washington, Aug 30 (ANI): Amy Winehouse, who mysteriously died last month at the age of 27, was paid a tribute at the MTV VMA awards by stars from around the world for her contribution to the contemporary music and her chart success.
According to Mtv.com, comedian Russell Brand delivered a touchy speech on the stage honouring the 'The Back to Black' singer.
"She was a mate of mine and tragically this year we lost her," Contactmusic quoted Brand as saying, who also added how much the late singer had influenced other artists including Adele, Lady Gaga and his own wife, singer Katy Perry.
Bruno Mars who performed his own version of hit single 'Valerie', also showered praises on the 'Love is a Losing Game' singer.
Besides Brand and Mars, the singing sensation also received homage from legendary crooner Tony Bennett, who not only called her a 'true' jazz artist, but also did he introduce some never-before-seen footage of the pair recording together in Abbey Road studios, London. (ANI)
