Clarke has 'started really well' as new Oz captain: Ponting

Colombo, Aug 29(ANI): Australian batsman Ricky Ponting has said he has been impressed by Michael Clarke's performances as the new captain.

Since taking over as captain from Ponting after the 50-over World Cup, Clarke has guided the team to ODI series victories over Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

"He's started really well. He's putting his touches on some of those things and no doubt we're doing things slightly differently now because different personalities will deal with things and handle things in different ways," the Herald Sun quoted Ponting, as saying.

"But he's been very proactive and the results are coming," he added.

Clarke's first challenge in the longest version of the game will begin when the Aussies face Sri Lanka in the first Test at Galle from Thursday. (ANI)
