London, Aug 26(ANI): Australian opening batsman Shane Watson has said that he is thrilled at being short-listed for International Cricket Council (ICC) Awards, which will be presented at a ceremony in London on September 12.
Watson has been nominated in the ICC ODI Player of the Year and ICC Twenty20 International Performance of the Year categories.
"I'm very excited. It's always a great honour to be nominated in a couple of categories, let alone being short-listed. I'm not sure how bright my chances are, but I'm thrilled to be in the category with three extremely talented players in Hashim Amla, Kumar Sangakkara and Gautam Gambhir, all of whom have had fantastic years," Watson said.
"My personal highlight for this year was getting 161 against England at the MCG is something I thought I would never achieve. Also, getting 185 against Bangladesh at Sher-e-Bangla in Dhaka in April and breaking Matt Hayden's record knock is something I cherish," he added.
This year's ICC Awards includes 10 individual prizes, including the LG People's Choice Award and also features a newly designed Spirit of Cricket Award which honours a moment by an international player that has most adhered to the Spirit of Cricket.
The eighth annual awards will be presented in association with the Federation of International Cricketers' Associations (FICA). (ANI)
