London , Fri, 26 Aug 2011 ANI

London, Aug 26(ANI): Former England football captain Bryan Robson, nicknamed 'Captain Marvel', has declared that he has beaten throat cancer after receiving a clean chit in the letter from the doctor who treated him.

Robson, who will now undergo another medical check-up, said doctors are confident that he has completely recovered from the disease.

He was diagnosed with the disease in March after he complained of difficulty in swallowing and a lump in the throat and subsequently underwent surgery and radiotherapy.

"It was great news that I had in the letter. Things seem to be going well for me", the Daily Mail quoted Robson, as saying.

"I've been getting messages all the time and I have had great support from fans throughout the world and at West Bromwich, Middlesbrough, Thailand and obviously United. 'I'd like to thank everyone for that ", he added.

Robson, who had managed Middlesbrough, Bradford City, West Bromwich and Sheffield United in the past said he has no plans to return to management.

He is currently an ambassador at United, where he made 470 appearances and scored 103 goals.

"I have enjoyed my two years in Thailand and unless something really special comes up I'll stay doing what I am doing", he added. (ANI)
