London, Aug.25 (ANI): Middle order batsman Eoin Morgan insists England are not being disrespectful to the Irish by leaving all their big-name stars at home.
Stand-in skipper Morgan claims the players need a rest after the 4-0 Test series whitewash win over India.
It means the likes of Kevin Pietersen, Graeme Swann, Stuart Broad, James Anderson and Ian Bell will not play today in the one-dayer in Dublin.
Even new 50-over captain Alastair Cook has stayed behind as England blood some of the most talented kids.
But they will all be back for the five-match one-day series against India starting on September 3.
The announcement of a second-string squad prompted fury among some involved with Irish cricket.
Former bowler Dave Langford-Smith said: "I was so angry when I heard England's squad - they are taking the p***.
"It looks like England are not taking it seriously which is stupid when you consider our recent record against them."
The Sun quoted Morgan, 24, as saying: "This was a window of opportunity to rest some of the senior guys. The new guys are the brightest talents in English cricket. They will be nervous but it is a great chance to show they can perform." (ANI)
