New Delhi, Aug 23 (ANI): With thousands of persons joining Anna Hazare in his crusade against corruption, civil society representative Kiran Bedi urging the supporters to maintain peace and discipline today said people from all walks of life, all religions and backgrounds have gathered for this fight and they represent the real India.
Addressing the gathering at the Ramlila Ground here, Bedi said: "In this whole congregation, we Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs as well as Christians, this is the real India, which does not have one nation or one religion; people from all religions are present here. And when corruption takes place and bribery is demanded, it does not spread or stop by seeing that a person is Hindu or Muslim or Sikh or Christian."
"When a government official demands bribe, he does not look at the person's face, he just needs a chance, he does not care whether the person is a man or a woman, Hindu or Muslim, Sikh or Christian, is from Maharashtra or from Delhi; he just sees what he can get for himself in bribe," she added.
Bedi met Jama Masjid Shahi Imam Syed Ahmed Bukhari earlier on Monday night at the latter's residence during which the Shahi Imam requested Bedi to include the issue of communal harmony in Anna Hazare's campaign.
Urging the supporters to not to break laws during their protests, Bedi said: "Till the government does not present some solid proposals, we will not lose our patience and will maintain peace. We will not lose our discipline."
"If we lose our discipline, then we will break the law and even the common man will stand against us, saying that we are lawless and break laws. Till now, we have not broken any law," she added.
Team Anna has demanded that the government mandate somebody officially for opening a political dialogue on the Lokpal issue and suggested that it either withdraw the official bill or amend it by including provisions of the Jan Lokpal Bill. (ANI)
