Melbourne, Aug 22(ANI): Former Australian captain Ian Chappell reckons the fact that Cricket Australia (CA) needed the 'Argus Review' to point out problems in the country's cricket highlights what's wrong within the board.
"It's got to give you a bit of a clue when you have to hold a review to see what's wrong with the body that's supposed to be running cricket," Chappell told the BBC.
"That's got to tell you where most of the problems are, surely? If you've got the right people in place, they see that there's problems and start doing something about them," he added.
The Argus Report, released on Friday, tabled several recommendations to revitalize cricket in Australia to regain its status as the world's best Test nation.
Among the recommendations made are the introduction of a five-man selection panel - including a fulltime chairman, two independents, the captain and coach - as well as a newly created position of general manager of team performance, who will be responsible for coaching, selection and the Centre of Excellence.
There will also be a new head coaching role with a broader scope than the current coaching job held by Tim Nielsen. The head coach will also be a selector.
Don Argus, the former chairman of BHP Billiton and Brambles, conducted the review, which has been touted as the most comprehensive in Australian cricket history.
Argus interviewed over 60 people involved in Australian cricket before presenting his findings to the board. (ANI)
