Foreign nationals join Hazare's anti-corruption campaign
Bangalore, Aug 21 (ANI): Foreign nationals extended their support to veteran social activist Anna Hazare's crusade against corruption here today.
Several groups of young foreigners raised pro-Hazare slogans and held banners in support of his movement.
Talking to mediapersons, a social studies student from U.S, Scarl Advarb said that the campaign should not loose it's non violent momentum and the central government should follow the will of the people.
"I would like to emphasize that they should practice non-violently and I see that here with Mr. Anna also. I think it is very important that people remain civil and not right off their campaign by getting violent and not human also in that regard. I think they must keep the spirit of democracy and the government should follow the will of the people," said Advarb.
Further, emphasising the issue of the enforcement of a strong Ombudsman Bill, another student from US expressed amazement at the support received by Hazare in his endeavour to root out corruption from the country.
"I think it is absolutely wonderful and I think such an incredible thing to see that so many people are coming together to exercise the right of free speech. The only time we see this in the U.S is maybe for elections; it is not very common. It is a wonderful thing to see and all of us completely support this bill and we support Anna Hazare," said Emily, a student from US.
Earlier people across the country organised candle light vigils in support of Hazare and his campaign.
The 74-year-old social activist is on a fast-unto-death protest along with thousands of his supporters at New Delhi's Ramlila Maidan for a strong Lokpal Bill. (ANI)
