Most successful Aussie woman cricketer in race to assume Cricket Australia's new post

Melbourne, Aug 20(ANI): Australia's most successful woman cricketer and former captain Belinda Clark is among the frontrunners to take over the Cricket Australia's(CA) newly created post, General Manager of Team Performance.

 

A probe into the demise of Australia's Test team from top position on the world rankings, had recommended the creation General Manager of Team Performance post besides a five- member selection panel to improve the cricketing standards.

 

The manager will also be in charge of the Centre of Excellence and will work closely with state cricket performance and talent managers, Fox Sports reports.

 

Clark, 40, has impressed with her management skills and cricket knowledge since taking over as National Centre of Excellence manager in Brisbane following her retirement from cricket in 2005.

 

Though CA Chairman Jack Clarke claimed that the board would mount a "global search" for the post, senior cricket figures find Clark suitable for the role.

 

A former selector Trevor Hohns has already expressed willingness to take over new role of cricket head selector.

 

"I am available. I've only recently been appointed to the Queensland job (as chairman of selectors) so I do have the time and the energy. I'm certainly interested, there's no doubt about it", the Daily Telegraph quoted him, as saying. (ANI)
