Mumbai, Aug.20 (ANI): The Traders Association of Mumbai has called for a review of the government's version of the Lokpal Bill, and said that completely supports the Jan Lokpal Bill of anti corruption campaigner Anna Hazare.
In a protest organized by the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) and the Federation of Retail Traders (FRT), the traders aid that they were completely disheartened and depressed by the various corruption cases and scams.
They warned that either the government should implement the Jan Lokpal Bill, or must review their version of the bill.
"The entire country is facing the brunt of corruption. We just want to say the government that corruption should be removed from the country by any way. If the government"s Ombudsman Bill is not efficient enough for it, then the government should review the Anna"s Public Ombudsman Bill. If the government cannot do this, then they should at least take the main six points being raised by Anna Hazare from his version of the Bill and discus them in Parliament. Why the government is not doing this? It is just a tiny point," said Manish Gupta, a trader of readymade garments.
Hazare has been campaigning against corruption and nepotism in public life for quite some time.
Several scandals, including 2G-telecom scam that may have cost the government up to 39 billion dollars led to Hazare demanding anti-corruption measures.
After months of debate, the Lokpal Bill, which intends to create a national anti-corruption watchdog, was tabled in the Lok Sabha on August 4, but the civil society rejected it by terming it as toothless, which was also endorsed by the opposition parties. (ANI)
