Advani calls for unity amongst political parties against graft tainted govt.

New Delhi, Fri, 19 Aug 2011 ANI

New Delhi, Aug 19 (ANI): Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader LK Advani has called upon all political parties in the opposition to come together in support of Anna Hazare's movement against graft and in turn corner the Congress-led central government.

Talking to reporters here on Thursday, Advani said: "Hazare's movement had led to several political parties coming together which was a positive sign for the end of Congress government's rule that was marred by several corruption scandals.

"Despite having diverse political views, coming together of political parties is a huge thing. Specially at this time when the government is in such a state, all political parties unassociated with Congress party should get together for the betterment of the country. In recent past, the concerted activity of political parties despite ideological differences raises some hope," he added.

Advani further said the BJP was open to collaborating with all political parties including the Left who on their part have shown restraint to join hands with BJP.

"Recently some leaders of the Marxist parties had come to meet us at our party office. Sushma Ji (BJP leader Sushma Swaraj) called me to inform about their visit. She quoted them and said that since they had come into prohibited territory, they wanted to meet me before leaving. For them it would be forbidden territory, but we are always ready to go to their office," added Advani.

Hazare has become a serious challenge to the authority of the Congress party-led government in its second term as it reels from public outcry against corruption. (ANI)
