New Delhi , Tue, 16 Aug 2011 ANI

New Delhi, Aug 16 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Tuesday sought responses from the Central Government and Uttar Pradesh Government on director Prakash Jha's petition to lift the ban on his latest release 'Aarakshan' (Reservation), which is based on the quota system in education.

An apex court bench of Justices Mukundkam Sharma and A R Dave issued notice to the Centre and the State government asking them to file their responses by Friday.

The apex court posted the matter for further hearing on Friday.

Prakash Jha had moved the court after the movie was banned in the three states of Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Andhra Pradesh.

Jha had earlier agreed to edit out some scenes of the movie, which stars Amitabh Bachchan, Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone.

The movie, which also stars Prateik Babbar and Manoj Bajpayee, is a socio-political drama based on the controversial policies of caste based reservations in government jobs and educational institutions.

This movie takes on issues about the society and political affairs of India. (ANI)
