Guwahati, Aug 16 (ANI): Two Indian doctors have launched world's first e-hospital 'Mediangels' that connects patients to specialists from across the globe via the Internet.
The virtual 'multi-speciality' hospital boasts of at least 300 doctors in over 85 specialities from around 22 countries in the world. It also promises a response within 72 hours of the patient's consultation.
Mediangels is also connected to 21000 labs across the country and a patient can order a lab test without stepping out of his home.
Guwahati born doctor and entrepreneur, Debraj Shome, who is the brain behind the e-health service, said patients in India, especially from small towns and villages, do not have access to super speciality treatment.
Shome who is a well-known plastic surgeon started this project two years ago with another doctor Arabinder Sehgal.
"It is a great pleasure to see that I am able to give something back to the region that gave birth to me and it is absolutely fantastic and inspiring to see that children get treated from my services and are leading happy lives," said Shome.
"People will definitely connect with the service very soon. They will build a trust with us. And every single patient whom we have satisfied, it will help us connect with more people," Sehgal
Till now Debraj's e-health service has helped in the treatment of over 1500 people of which 900 are from India.
"Regarding the northeast it is very difficult to get good doctors here. Even though the doctors are there but finding good facilities here are difficult. So this service of mediangels through Internet is really good. I think we should have more such services in the region so that people do not have to travel all the way to Kolkata," said Babul, a local.
"We are getting our daughter Rupali's treatment done through the Internet services. The results are positive and it has also cost us less money than usual," said Shapali, Rupali's mother. (ANI)
