Hambantota (Sri Lanka), Aug.16 (ANI): Rather than wallow in self-pity at being omitted from the Australian Test squad, fiery left-arm quick Doug Bollinger has reformed his training regime in a bid to get back his Baggy Green.
"I've been training with a guy that used to train Glenn McGrath. That's been going really well. I'm feeling really fit and feeling really strong at the moment. That's the best thing I can do at the moment. I feel really good," the Sydney Morning Herald quoted Bollinger, as saying.
Bollinger teamed up with fellow pacers Mitchell Johnson and Brett Lee to devastate the vaunted Sri Lanka batting order as Australia got their one-day series off to a flier with two wins from the first two matches.
Johnson claimed a career-best 6-31 in the opener in Kandy, while Bollinger's three scalps in game two were complemented with two wickets each for Lee and Johnson.
Bollinger said that pack mentality was the key to the team's early success on the island nation.
"The main focus, is bowling as a group. You've got to work together and we've all got to try and do the same things as a plan. That's going well at the moment," Bollinger said.
Australia's selectors have preferred Bollinger's uncontracted New South Wales team-mate Trent Copeland for the looming three-Test series in Sri Lanka.
Selection chairman Andrew Hilditch said: "He (Bollinger) is a very talented bowler and we think he can still get back to playing Test cricket, but we need to be satisfied that he can do so at full intensity." (ANI)
