Poonch (J-K), Aug.15 (ANI): People in Poonch, Jammu and Kashmir, took part in an environment awareness-related run on Sunday.
"The run had many purposes; one is to create awareness about environment. Poonch is a hilly area and today also the beauty is maintained in Poonch. And to maintain it further, we need to create awareness about environment and its second objective was to aware people about health and people's health is compared with nation's health and also to promote sports," Ajit Kumar Sahi, District Development Commissioner of Poonch.
Officials had named the run as 'Go Green Run.'
Prajeet Singh, who won the run, urged people to participate in the event next year.
"I felt very nice that I came first and I want to end pollution in Poonch and I want other people to practice and win the run next time and give good performance," said Singh.
People said the objective of the run was to join hands with the local population creating awareness on the need to protect and preserve the environment. (ANI)
