London, Aug 15 (ANI): Visitors to the London 2012 Olympics website during the time when tickets were on sale mainly included wealthy women and middle class families, figures have revealed.
According to the data obtained from Internet analysis company ComScore, visitors to London2012.com were nearly twice as likely to be a women aged 45-54, compared to ordinary web users, the Telegraph reports.
It further showed that the rise in traffic from upper middle and middle class people was 74 and 83 percent respectively, while traffic was 72 percent more likely to come from households with an income above 50,000 pounds.
In response to the organising committee's claims that the Games would benefit the whole country, the data showed traffic from the south-west was down 62 percent and that from central Scotland down 72 per cent.
It showed that traffic from those web users categorised as 'working class' was likely to be 71 per cent below ordinary levels and that site visitors were nearly 40 percent less likely to be men and women aged 15-24 than typical web users.
The data represents only people who visited the website while tickets were on sale, but it could also be indicative of the spread of the 850,000 applicants who obtained over 3.5 million tickets so far. (ANI)
