Midnapore (West Bengal), Aug 14 (ANI): Shyamal Acharya, a Trinamool Congress (TMC) worker has demanded that death penalty should be given to Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader Sushanta Ghosh, who is in CID remand in connection with the Garbeta killings case.

Ghosh was arrested on Thursday in connection with recovery of at least five human skeletons - suspected to be that of Trinamool Congress workers - from near his house in West Midnapore in June.

Shyamal Acharya, who has filed a police complaint in which he mentioned that one of the skeletons was of his father Ajay Acharya, said: "We now hope that we will get proper justice and all the involved people will be punishment and the former minister Sushanta Ghosh must be hanged until death."

According to reports, the CID team on Saturday recovered cartridges during its raids at three houses belonging to Ghosh.

On Saturday afternoon, two CID teams comprising 12 officers swooped on Ghosh's ancestral house and his residence at Chandrakona, while another team raided his Kolkata flat on D L Khan Road. The flat, found locked, was sealed by the CID.

It was alleged that Ajay Acharya and some other members of the TMC were attacked by 40-armed people, allegedly belonging to the CPI-M in September 22, 2002. (ANI)
