New Delhi, Aug.10 (ANI): A high level 15-member delegation of Bangladesh Parliament led by Dr. Muhiuddin Khan Alamgir, MP, Chairperson of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) visited the Lok Sabha from August 8 to 10.
The Bangladeshi team was exposed to the functioning of the Lok Sabha and exchanged views and experience with Indian parliamentarians, including Oscar Fernandes, Chairman of Standing Committee on Human Resource Development, Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi, Chairman of Public Accounts Committee, Francisco Sardinha, Chairman of Estimates Committee, Basudeb Acharya, Chairman of Standing Committee on Agriculture, N.K. Singh, MP, veteran Congress leader and former minister Mani Sankar Ayer during their visit in New Delhi.
The study visit was arranged by World Bank funded "Strengthening Parliamentary Over Eight Project".
A Bangladesh High Commission release here said that the main objective of the visit was to familiarize the members with the practices of financial over eight committees of the Indian Parliament in order to improve functioning of the committees in Bangladesh.
The other members of the delegation included Professor Md. Ali Ashraf, MP, Dhirendra Debnath Shambhu, MP, Hafiz Ahmed Majumdar, MP, Mostafa Faruque Mohammad, MP, S. K. Abu Bakr, MP, Moyeenuddin Khan Badal, MP.
The delegation will leave New Delhi tomorrow for Dhaka. (ANI)
