New Delhi, Aug 10 (ANI): There was ruckus inside both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha today with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) demanding the resignation of Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram over the police baton charge on its youth party workers on Tuesday.
Both the Houses of Parliament were earlier adjourned till noon over the issue. But with the pandemonium continuing to prevail, the Lok Sabha was further adjourned till 2 p.m., while the Rajya Sabha was adjourned for the day.
Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) President Anurag Thakur earlier in the day said the party would raise voice in the Parliament against the 'inhuman and barbaric' baton charge on the members of the factions' youth wing during a protest against corruption on Tuesday.
Anurag Thakur said if the government fails to put an end to corruption, then the citizens will continue to express their anger in the Parliament as well as on the streets.
"I have given a notice to raise voice during the Question Hour in the Lower House (Lok Sabha) of the Parliament, against the inhuman and barbaric baton charge, which was carried out on the youth wing members of the BJP yesterday," said Thakur.
"Are the youth not allowed to keep their point against corruption in the country, will they be suppressed? If the government will continue with this behaviour, then anger will be expressed inside and outside the Parliament," he added.
Thakur further said that one person could not be blamed for the scams, and added that the whole Congress Party was looting the country.
"Its not just one person, the whole congress has looted the country, whether it be through Commonwealth Games or 2G spectrum allocation scam. Is it right to baton charge people who raise their voice on such issues, will the youth voice be suppressed," he added.
Delhi Police used water cannons, lobbed tear gas shells and baton charged the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) activists to prevent them from marching towards the Parliament to protest corruption and price rise on Tuesday.
Around 50 BJYM workers were injured in the baton charge. 23 policemen were injured when the protestors threw stones, bricks, bottles and sticks at them. (ANI)
