London, August 9 (ANI): Jeremy Irons has blasted political correctness, suggesting that a woman does not need to revert to the law to "deal with" groping from men.
The Hollywood icon, who won an Oscar in 1991 for Best Actor for his role in 'Reversal of Fortune', also said that there was too much legislation governing such matters.
"There are too many people in power with too little to do, so they churn out laws to justify their jobs," he said.
The 62-year-old, who is married to actress Sinead Cusack, claimed that patting a woman's backside is nothing more than friendly "communication".
"Most people are robust. If a man puts his hand on a woman's bottom, any woman worth her salt can deal with it. It's communication. Can't we be friendly?" the Sun quoted him as speaking in this week's Radio Times. (ANI)
