North Carolina (US), Aug.9 (ANI): Melbourne golf wunderkind Karl Vilips sank a 10-metre birdie putt at the famous Pinehurst course in North Carolina yesterday to secure a second consecutive US Kids World Championship.
Back at Southern Golf Club in Dingley, where Vilips hangs out, nobody was too surprised.
Vilips, who turns 10 in a few weeks' time, has been setting records for a year or so now.
This year, for instance, he became the youngest player to compete in Golf Victoria's elite pennant competition for under 23s.
Representing Southern in a match against a player twice his age at Kingswood Golf Club in the sand belt, he shot 81 to square the contest.
One of his coaches, Sean Kirschenberg, said: "His growing up is very reminiscent of Tiger Woods."
"It's very exciting for our club to have someone of that talent in our stable," he added.
Vilips, who began playing golf about age three, hits the ball about 180 metres and plays to a handicap of 12. (ANI)
