Kandy (Sri Lanka), Aug.9 (ANI): Australia's Twenty20 captain Cameron White has admitted that players still need to come to terms with how to play spin, and added that performance against spin will go a long way to determining their success levels in Sri Lanka.
Speaking after his side lost the Twenty20 series against Sri Lanka two-nil, White said Ajantha Mendis's magical display of 6 for 16, punctuated by a brilliant piece of inventive fielding off his bowling by vice-captain Angelo Mathews, delivered Sri Lanka a one-sided victory.
"It was pretty obvious that once there was a couple of new batters, it was quite hard work. It's going to be no different during the one-day series. It'll be hard and tough work for the batsmen against the spinners. Everyone knows that, it's no secret and it's just going to be about who can come out on top at the end of the series," the Age quoted White, as saying.
White believed the addition of experienced players such as Ricky Ponting, Michael Clarke and Mike Hussey will aid the one-day team's ability to handle spin. (ANI)
