New Delhi, Aug 9 (ANI): A delegation of Nepalese women parliamentarians met Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar and opposition leader Sushma Swaraj here on Monday.
The all women delegation of 15 lawmakers visited the Indian Parliament and interacted with women lawmakers.
Suprabha Ghimire, one of the Nepalese parliamentarians stated that the main aim of the visit was to interact with the Indian women parliamentarians and gain experience.
"Our purpose is to interact with the women parliamentarians of India because India is a fast growing economy and a vaster democracy. And we want a lot from this meeting, taking greater economic stride," she said.
The visitors were inspired by the role of the Indian women parliamentarians in the political life of the country.
"We have got to meet with the opposition leader. She is a woman and this is very much inspiring. The thoughts which she has provided us with is also very much inspiring and we have learnt many things from her. We are very much empowered by the inspiring speech and remarks that have been provided by the Speaker of the House. She is a woman herself and there have been things to be learnt by Nepalese women parliamentarians from the women leaders in India who are leading at the political level," said Lucky Sharma, another parliamentarian.
The Nepalese delegation arrived in New Delhi on Sunday and would be in India till Saturday.
Earlier this year, a group of young parliamentarians from Nepal also visited the country at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. (ANI)
