Karachi, Aug 6 (ANI): Karachi City Cricket Association (KCCA) honorary Secretary Professor Ejaz Ahmed Faruqi has said that Pakistan Cricket Board's (PCB) act of disqualifying him will not stop him from raising his voice for merit and justice in cricket.
"I have always raised my voice against injustice, in defence of merit and for the right of the players of Karachi being the elected KCCA secretary," the Daily Times quoted him, as saying in a statement.
"In the current democratic era, it is my duty to fight for the cause of cricket and raise voice for the rights of the players in the biggest metropolis," he added.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had earlier taken action against officials of associations for giving press statements without its permission, and disqualified Faruqi in the first place.
The decision came after PCB's one-man inquiry committee of Shafiq Ahmed, which listened to Faruqi in June this year, found his replies to defend himself against the charges of criticising the PCB unsatisfactory.
"Ejaz Ahmed Faruqi, KCCA's honorary secretary, is immediately disqualified to be a member of the association, therefore consequently ceases to be its honorary secretary with immediate effects," the paper quoted a statement issued by the PCB, as saying earlier.
"Accordingly, if any benefit is being availed by him in his capacity as secretary, the same to be recovered from him," it added.
Meanwhile, Faruqi has said that his conscience was clear and whatever he did was in the interest of the game. (ANI)
