New York, Aug.4 (ANI): New York Yankees third baseman Alex "Bomber" Rodriguez could face suspension if a Major League Baseball (MLB) investigation proves he violated previous warnings about illegal poker.
Major League Baseball wants A-Rod to show his cards about whether he played in illegal poker games, the New York Daily News quoted officials, as saying on Wednesday.
MLB investigators and the FBI are looking into a supermarket tabloid report A-Rod participated in underground Texas Hold 'Em games in Los Angeles and Florida that turned violent, a source said.
Star Magazine reported that Rodriguez attended an underground game at the Beverly Hills mansion of record executive Cody Leibel, where a fight nearly broke out and cocaine was being used in the open.
One poker player at the Beverly Hills game knocked down the report, insisting the Bomber's All-Star was not there.
"A-Rod was not at that game. It's ridiculous," pro-poker player Dan Bilzerian told the Daily News.
"He wasn't there, I'm telling you. He was playing in the World Series at the time," Bilzerian added.
Yankees officials cautioned A-Rod six years ago to keep away from high-stakes card games after the Daily News reported he had been playing at underground clubs in New York.
MLB never officially warned A-Rod to stay away from poker games, but sent word to him through the Yankees to stay away from underground poker games. (ANI)
