Brazil's Pele plays football with UK charity sponsored kids

London, Aug.4 (ANI): Brazil football legend Pele enjoyed a game of football in the garden of 10, Downing Street, the official resident of British Prime Minister David Cameron on Wednesday.

 

A played a game with a group of youngsters who are part of Street League, a football-oriented charity.

 

It is a Downing Street-backed charity that aims to help youngsters gain qualifications and jobs, and keep clear of crime.

 

It delivers football and employability programs to some of the most disadvantaged young people across the UK. Street League works with 16-25-year-old NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training) groups, offenders and substance users.

 

Through its structured football programs, Street League builds the confidence, life skills and relevant qualifications necessary for moving young people into sustainable training, further education and employment.

 

The organization uses a structured football and education program to help participants improve their health, extend their social networks and instill a positive outlook.

 

The Sun quoted Pele, 70, said: "In Brazil, we start playing football in the street, so to support the kids is great."

 

He is now an ambassador for former club New York Cosmos, and here for their friendly against Man United today. (ANI)
