New Delhi, Aug 3 (ANI): The Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, on Wednesday assured the Lok Sabha that the government will find ways and means to pay the salaries of Air India employees.
Stating that the government is determined to put the national carrier back on a sound footing, Dr. Singh said that a Group of Ministers (GoM) is working on how to salvage Air India in every possible manner.
"Air India doesn't have resources to pay salaries.... Whatever be the final outcome of the GoM, I can assure the House that the government will find ways and means and ensure that wages and salaries are paid," he said, while intervening during the Question Hour on the revival of Air India.
Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) V Narayanaswamy earlier informed the House that the turnaround and financial restructuring plans for Air India are presently being looked into by a Group of Officers appointed by the GoM. (ANI)
