New Delhi, Aug 2 (ANI): Human Resource Development Minister Kapil Sibal has described Australia as a suitable destination for the Indian student community.
Talking to reporters after a high-profile meeting with an Australian delegation, comprising 15 vice-chancellors from universities in Australia, including the premier of South Australia, Mike Rann, Sibal said: "I think that Australia is a wonderful destination for our student community.
"I also believe that Australia will find it extremely gainful and profitable to actually access the human resource in India, the young human resource that India can provide not just for Australia but for the rest of the world," he added.
Terming mobility of students as key to any successful collaboration between the two countries, he said the two sides agreed on a number of issues during the bilateral talks.
"If you want student mobility, then mobility cannot take place if there is quality assurance, mobility cannot take place unless the qualifications are recognized and mobility cannot take place unless there are credit transfers, even in respect of a particular discipline, so there is a whole range of issues that have been discussed between vice-chancellors to ensure that there is that quality education that is imparted in the university system to allow that mobility to take place," he added.
Sibal also announced that members of the India-Australia Education Council would meet annually once to discuss key educational issues. (ANI)
