Amy Winehouse rules UK album chart after death

London, August 01 (ANI): Amy Winehouse has climbed back to the top of the UK album chart with her Grammy-winning album 'Back to Black', following her untimely death a week ago.

 

The late singer's 2003 debut album 'Frank' also re-entered the chart at number five, while several of her singles are in the top 40, reports the BBC. he title track charted highest, at eight, with 'Tears Dry On Their Own' at 27, 'Rehab' at 29, 'Love is a Losing Game' at 33 and 'You Know I'm No Good' at 37.

 

The 27-year-old soul diva is among the great pop stars, including John Lennon and Michael Jackson, who achieved number one records soon after they died.

 

Meanwhile, Winehouse's record label had to increase the stock of the CDs to satisfy the increasing demand by the fans.

 

"In terms of the album sales, there was a real surge last weekend, both through downloads and people buying the CD," said HMV's Gennaro Castaldo.

 

"But a lot of stores then ran out of stock and they've been waiting for more to arrive which it did around Thursday," he added. (ANI)
