London, July 30 (ANI): British MPs have warned in a Commons committee report that football will die unless clubs curb their spending.
The report slammed the sport's "serious financial problems" and demanded it tackles its debt, the Daily Star reports.
The MPs also urged the Football Association to focus on developing stars of the future, and demanded more cash for grass-roots football.
"There are serious financial problems throughout the Football League pyramid. Significant changes must be made to the way the game is run to secure the future of England's unique football heritage, and the economic and community benefits it provides," Chairman John Whittingdale said.
According to reports, curbing excessive debt at teams like Manchester United is on top of the MPs' hit-list is, who also slammed Manchester City for signing Argentine Sergio Aguero for 38 million pounds on a 200,000 pound-a-week deal. (ANI)
