London, July 30(ANI): After scoring an impressive half-century on the first day of the Trent Bridge Test between England and India, England all-rounder Stuart Broad reckons that his team has managed to gain momentum after a jerky start to their innings.
England clawed their way back into the Test after they were reduced to 124 for eight at tea. Broad (64) and Graeme Swann (28) then added 73 for the ninth wicket to guide the team to 221.
Interacting with mediapersons in Nottingham on Friday, Broad said: "I mean it's been a good day of cricket; very exciting. I always believe that these sorts of days in cricket are much better than 300 runs for one wicket or 300 runs for two wickets, but certainly India won three course of the day, I thought they bowled brilliantly."
"It was a good toss to win, but the way we came out after lunch was fantastic," he added.
He insisted that the England batsmen could not be blamed for throwing away their wickets.
"I thought there were some good deliveries and we had a little chat at tea and we thought we needed to grab the momentum back; that was sort of playing our natural game," he said.
Broad further said that now it is on the bowlers to apply pressure on the Indian team which has already suffered an initial blow with the loss of a wicket.
