Melbourne, July 29(ANI): Australian Twenty20 captain Cameron White reckons that the door is open for "everyone" to earn a 'Baggy Green' following South Australia spinner Nathan Lyon's surprise selection for the upcoming Sri Lanka Test tour.
Lyon usurped Steven Smith in the squad despite playing only four first-class games and not being offered a Cricket Australia (CA) contract.
When asked what message Lyon's selection sent players, White said: "Very interesting question. It is a tough one for me to answer."
"It seems as though the door is open for everyone in first-class cricket, one-day cricket, and Twenty20 cricket to play Test cricket - if that makes any sense," he added.
White further insisted that if a player is in the right place at the right time, the selectors could pick him.
"In my mind the Baggy Green and Test cricket is still the ultimate," Fox Sports quoted White, as saying. (ANI)
