Kolkata, July 28 (ANI): Bollywood actors Amitabh Bachchan and Manoj Bajpai promoted their upcoming flick 'Aarakshan', which is based on the issue of caste-based reservation in government jobs and educational institutions, in West Bengal's Kolkata city on Wednesday.

Explaining the story line and characters of the film, Jha said he narrated the story seven years back to Amitabh Bachchan.
"It was a great journey to make this film, it all became possible when seven years ago I met Mr. Bachchan and narrated the story to him. The character of a principal, who is very principled, who is would not bend for whatever and would carry on despite adversities," said Jha.
"The whole film is set in landscape and background of the issue and policy of reservation and it is a strong emotional story of this principal and his family and the people that he has given opportunities to," he added.

Meanwhile, Amitabh Bachchan, who plays the role of a college principal who does not believe in the caste system, said that 'Aarakshan' is his first issue-based movie.
"Aarakshan is my first issue based film, I think 'Saat Hindustani' and 'Mein Azad Hun' were more of event based, whether it was 'Dev', but I think for the first time 'Aarakshan', the film is issue based," said Bachchan
