New Delhi, July 28 (ANI): Coomonwealth Games scam accused and suspended Congress leader Suresh Kalmadi on Thursday denied that he was suffering from dementia as was being reported in the media.
He said that he was a heart patient and that he had come to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) to have his heart checked up.
"I have a problem with the heart valve. My mind and brain are okay. I don't have memory loss," said Kalmadi.
He added: "I am perfectly alright. All that you are reading outside is wrong. So, I want to tell you. I am perfectly okay. I have come for a routine check up. And.. so all that is coming out (in the media) is not correct. I am fine. And I will be answering all questions at the right time. Okay?"
Kalmadi, 66, is lodged in jail no 4 of Tihar jail in connection with alleged irregularities in the conduct of the mega-sporting event.
Kalmadi was arrested by the CBI on April 25 for fraud and conspiring with other officers of the Organising Committee for overpaying a Swiss firm 95 crores for timing and scorekeeping equipment that was used at different venues during the Commonwealth Games.
Kalmadi has been accused of sanctioning payments to AM Films and AM Car at rates that were hugely inflated.
Delhi police officials at Tihar's Jail Number Four have said that Kalmadi is not receiving special favours as was being reported in the media. (ANI)
