Lady Gaga on Amy Winehouse's tragic death: 'Don't kill the superstar'

London, Wed, 27 Jul 2011 ANI

London, July 27 (ANI): Lady Gaga has spoken out about Amy Winehouse's tragic death, insisting that it should serve as a warning to society to not "kill the superstar".

"It's a lesson to the world. Don't kill the superstar, take care of her soul", the Daily Mail quoted the 25-year-old 'Judas' singer as saying.

Gaga said that while she did not personally know Winehouse, she loved her 'so much' and revealed that she used to get mistaken for the British soul icon before she became famous.

Speaking about Amy, who died on Saturday, Lady Gaga said: "I was nobody when she was first coming out. I would be on the street and people would go "Amy".

"I just remember feeling like I wasn't alone because she was so different."

The 'Born This Way' singer made the comments during an interview on U.S. radio show, Omaha 94.1 Radio on Tuesday.

She also paid tribute to the singer on her Twitter page and posted: "Amy changed pop music forever, I remember knowing there was hope, and feeling not alone because of her. She lived jazz, she lived the blues." (ANI)
