Allahabad High Court Bench recuses itself from hearing Noida land case

Allahabad , Tue, 26 Jul 2011 ANI

Allahabad, July 26 (ANI): A division bench of the Allahabad High Court today recused itself from hearing a writ petition filed by farmers of Gautam Buddh Nagar district's Deola village challenging acquisition of their land by the Uttar Pradesh Government for housing projects in Noida Extension area, and referred the matter to the Chief Justice with the request that it be placed before the 'appropriate' division bench.

The division bench comprising Justices R K Agrawal and Sunil Hali released the petitions filed by the farmers of Deola village.

The petitioners had moved the court with the contention that the Uttar Pradesh Government had acquired 107 hectares of their land, which had denied them an opportunity to raise objections by invoking the 'urgency clause' and deprived them of adequate compensation.

Around 40 housing projects, 25 builders and thousands of homebuyers are likely to be affected once the court passes the judgement.

Among them the prominent names included Amrapali Group (six projects), Supertech (five projects), Panchsheel Group (four projects), Nirala Developers (two projects) and Mahagun (one project). (ANI)
