Bangalore, July 26 (ANI): Karnataka Lokayukta Justice (retired) Santosh Hegde has said that he will submit his report on illegal mining to the government on Wednesday.
"Yes, I will submit the report on Wednesday," Justice Hegde said on Monday.
The report has indicted Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa and four ministers, among others, and pegged the loss to the state exchequer because of illegal mining between March 2009 and April 2010 at more than Rs 1,800 crore.
Yeddyurappa, however, has made it clear that he will not quit his post and instead dissolve the state assembly.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Nitin Gadkari on Monday said the party will decide on Yeddyurappa's future only after the report is submitted.
Gadkari's remarks came after Yeddyurappa said that he would continue be the Chief Minister of Karnataka for the next two years
"I am going to continue for another two years as Chief Minister, afterwards we are going to face the elections. In another 15-20 years, we want to build up our organisation and we are going to comeback to power even after these elections," Yeddyurappa told mediapersons in Bangalore.
Returning to the country after holidaying in Mauritius amidst the rampant corruption charges, Yeddyurappa said Hegde is yet to officially hand over the report to the government, and added that he would comment on the report only after he receives it.
The Lokayukta findings reveal that the mining scam has caused a loss of Rs 1,800 crore to the state exchequer for 14 months from March 2009.
The opposition parties have begun to mount pressure on Yeddyurappa following the findings and triggered demands for his resignation. (ANI)
