London, July 22 (ANI): Fans are eagerly awaiting Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar's 100th international century during the first Test match between Indian and England at the historic Lord's cricket grounds in London.

Tendulkar needs just a century for his 100th international hundred, which includes 51 in Test cricket and 48 in one-day internationals, although surprisingly, he has never made a ton at Lord's.

Hoping for a knockout performance from cricket maestro, Sachin Tendulkar fans said that India would win this test series.

"Absolutely, we know one thing, this series belongs to India. We are all here, even the England supporters are all here to see one thing, and that is, Sachin's 100th century," said Rajesh Singh.

Getting nostalgic about his interaction with Tendulkar, former test cricket umpire, Dickie Bird said that he was always certain of Sachin's success.

"When I first saw Sachin Tendulkar play as a youngster, to him, I said young man you will put your name in the record books, and he certainly has. There is no doubt that and he will be trying to get this century ..... in International cricket which is a wonderful achievement because he is a tremendous player , there is no doubt about that; one of the greatest," he said.

Lord's is the fitting backdrop for the 2000th Test in history and the 100th between the two teams with England seeking to challenge India's position as the top-ranked Test side.

Bird also said the Indian test cricket team would remain world number one after the series, as it currently has one of the best all-rounder players in the world.

"I think team India will still be number one at the end of this test series because they are a great side. They have got so many great all-rounder cricketers in the side and I think they will still be number one, but I think England will become number one in the future because I am a tremendous admirer of Flower, the coach and Strauss, the captain," he added.
