Broad's bowling form worries skipper Strauss

London , Sun, 17 Jul 2011 ANI

London, July 17 (ANI): England captain Andrew Strauss has admitted that Stuart Broad's poor form is a worry for his team ahead of the first test against India.

"He (Broad) is clearly frustrated at not taking more wickets recently. If you are not performing up to the standards you are used to, it hurts," Strauss was quoted, as saying by The Sun.

"The key is to be patient and persevere and not try and change his method too much, stick with what he knows, keep banging it on a length consistently," he added.

Strauss underlined Bresnan's importance after the pacer proved his fitness in the NatWest Series win over Sri Lanka.

"Tim hasn't done himself any harm with his performance in the one-dayers. He has had a frustrating period with injuries but is looking strong and fit and bowling well," Strauss said.

"A lot of people might have been surprised by how well he did in Australia. I don't think we were, because he does the fundamentals very well," he added.

England will become the world's top-rated Test nation if they beat India by at least two matches in the four-game series. (ANI)
