London, July 16 (ANI): 'The King's Speech' star Colin Firth is set to pick up another honour - the Freedom of the City of London.
Firth, 50, who was awarded a CBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours, is expected to accept the Freedom during the next six months.
"Colin Firth has enjoyed a remarkable year, honoured with a CBE, and winning an Oscar, Bafta and Golden Globe for his performance in The King's Speech," the Daily Express quoted a spokesman for the City of London Corporation as saying.
"He is a very deserving candidate for the Freedom and we look forward to welcoming him and his guests to the Square Mile for his ceremony," the spokesman added.
In 2005 Firth, married to Italian producer Livia Giuggioli, was made a Commander of the Order of the Star of Italian Solidarity.
The Freedom of the City of London is said to date back to 1237 and celebrates outstanding contributions to London life. (ANI)
