Lahore, July 13(ANI): Pakistan's participation in the upcoming Commonwealth Wrestling Championship in Australia is reportedly in doubt due to the non-availability of funds.
The wrestling championship will take place in Melbourne from August 5 to 7.
Seven Pakistan wrestlers and two officials were scheduled to leave for Melbourne on August 2.
However, the Pakistan Wrestling Federation (PWF) did not receive any travel funds from the sports board nor did they get NOCs for their visas, the News reports.
Earlier, national coach Sohail Rashid had said that all of its seven wrestlers were in good shape and were likely to clinch a few medals in the three-day event.
"The wrestling team comprises two medallists of the last Commonwealth Games, so we hope to create a stir at the championship," Rashid had said.
Wrestler Azhar Hussain had claimed a gold medal in the 55kg category in the 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi.
Mohammad Inam had also won a gold for Pakistan in the 84kg class at the Games. (ANI)
