New Delhi, July 10 (ANI): Radha, the daughter of farmers' leader Manveer Singh Tewatia has filed a complaint before the Delhi Police objecting to the Uttar Pradesh Police arresting her father from New Delhi's Tilak Bridge area on Saturday, allegedly for instigating farmers' violence in Bhatta Parsaul in May.
Radha, who vented her ire against the Uttar Pradesh Police, has filed a case at the Tilak Marg Police Station here.
"I have filed an FIR. I told him (Delhi police official) everything. Why have they arrested him (my father) without any reason," she asked.
A special squad of the Uttar Pradesh Police arrested Tewatia on Saturday. He had had launched an anti-land acquisition agitation in the twin villages of Bhatta Parsaul.
Radha declared her father innocent and said he had committed no crime. She demanded his immediate release.
"I just want that he should be brought and released safely. A petition has been filed by Bhim Singh's party yesterday for his release, as he is totally innocent. He has one case that also of an agitation, which he started at Bhatta Parsaul. For the rest, he is innocent," said Radha.
Radha also blamed the District Magistrate of Gautam Buddha Nagar for targeting her father.
"DM (District Manager) wants to kill him and he tried also when firing took place at Bhatta Parsaul on May 7. At that time, DM was the one who fired," she said.
Uttar Pradesh Police had earlier announced a reward of rupees 50,000 for Tewatia's arrest.
In the last week of May, the twin villages of Bhatta Parsaul turned into a battlefield, resulting in the death of two Provincial Armed Constabulary personnel and one villager.
Several others were also injured in the same incident, when a clash broke out between the farmers and the police.
District Magistrate (DM) Deepak Aggarwal and Gautam Buddha Nagar Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) were grievously injured in the incident along with others.
The farmers had been agitating since January 2011 for higher compensation for their lands acquired by the state government.
Their demand was that only half their lands should be acquired, while the rest should be handed over to the farmers after development.
They also wanted 25 percent reservation for farmers in all schemes of Noida, Greater Noida and Yamuna Expressway.
Apart from this, the farmers had also been demanding for the authorities to give 120 square metre plots to landless farmers and a compensation of rupees 5,00,000 for each acre of acquired land. (ANI)
