South Africa will not respect Black Caps in World Cup quarterfinal: Donald

Dhaka, Fri, 25 Mar 2011 ANI

Dhaka, Mar 25(ANI): New Zealand bowling coach Allan Donald has ensured that his team won't lack for motivation against South Africa in today's World Cup quarterfinal after revealing to them that his old side will be expecting nothing, but a limp performance from the Black Caps.

"I said to the guys - and I think they needed to hear it - that South Africa will not respect them," Stuff.co.nz quoted Donald, as saying.

"They will not rate them. That's the way South Africans think about their sport and it's only because that within that dressing room they've always backed themselves and backed the guy next to them. There's no other reason," he added.

The 44-year-old, who signed on as the New Zealand bowling coach just before the tournament, also said that he had no doubts about where his loyalties would sit once the quarterfinal gets under way.

"I've received nothing, but stick from the South African media. But that's just the way it is. I think people in South Africa see me now in the other camp. South Africa will know that I know quite a bit about them and how they think and how they approach things and how, in particular, they will approach us," Donald said.

"I've got a job to do and it will be unbelievable if we pull it off on Friday, knowing I would have had some input in that," he added. (ANI)
