Guwahati, Mar.24 (ANI): Around four labourers have been killed in a landslide in Guwahati. The deceased were daily wage workers engaged in constructing a wall near a hilly area of the city.
The incident took place when loose soil from the hills came tumbling down the hill, suppressing the workers beneath it.
A senior police official has refused to confirm the number of deaths in the accident.
Nabojoti Das, Senior Superintendent of Police said: " Reportedly six to seven labourers were working here and loose soil fell on them from the top. It is a landslide."
" We have sent six people to the hospital till now. Further details are not known. We are not doctors and can't comment on the number of deaths yet," he added.
Authorities have deployed a bulldozer and rescue workers to dig out the trapped people buried under the earth, who were immediately taken to a nearby hospital for medical assistance. (ANI)
