Vadodara, Mar 19 (ANI): The body of 24-year-old Indian student Tosha Thakkar, who was allegedly raped and murdered in Australia, was cremated here on Saturday.
Tosha, daughter of local businessman Sunil Thakkar, was found raped and murdered on March 9 after her body was discovered stuffed in a suitcase near a canal in Sydney.
Scores of people including local politicians joined her funeral procession.I have spoken with the government and they have assured me that they will speak with the Australian Government over this matter. The boy Daniel, who killed the girl, has been arrested and I hope he gets the highest punishment," said Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Balkrishna Shukla.
"I have also contacted the Ministry of External Affairs and asked them to bring out certain changes so that Indians feel safer when they live abroad. This should become a priority for the government," he added.
Nineteen-year-old Daniel Stani-Reginald, one of the two men with whom she had shared a house, has been charged with sexually assaulting and killing her. (ANI)
