Ex-F-1 champ Schumacher says he will fight for top spot

London , Thu, 17 Mar 2011 ANI

London, Mar. 17 (ANI): An upbeat seven-time Formula One champion Michael Schumacher has said that he will "fight for the top places" after a sudden surge of acceleration by Mercedes.

Schumacher said the Mercedes team had done a "great job" by vastly improving their new W02 car during Formula One's pre-season tests.

Schuey, 42, ended the final test at Barcelona with the fastest time of all, The Sun reports.

"We should be in a good position this year. But as to whether we already have a winning car - for this assessment I would like to wait a few races. Anyway, we will be able to fight for the top places. And that is good news," he was quoted, as saying. (ANI)
