London, Mar 14 (ANI): Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor has urged the Football Association to take pity on club pal Kolo Toure, who failed to pass a drugs test.
Toure had claimed that he had taken his wife Awo's diet pills and that they led to him testing positive for a banned substance after the Manchester derby last month.
Although Adebayor is on loan at Real Madrid, he has stayed in touch with Toure after the defender's failed drugs test and suspension.
"I know Kolo very well and know he would never take any drug to help his ability on the football pitch," The Sun quoted Adebayor, as saying.
"It's more for losing weight. It's a little mistake. Hopefully, the FA will see he's innocent and he'll be back on the pitch to play again," he said.
"I keep him in my prayers as Kolo is more like a brother to me," Adebayor added. (ANI)
