Chennai, Mar 11 (ANI): Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi's daughter and Dravida Munnettra Kazhagam (DMK) MP Kanimozhi is being questioned by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with the 2G scam.
Kanimozhi's stepmother, Dayaluammal, is also likely to be interrogated.
Both Kanimozhi, who is a Rajya Sabha MP, and Dayaluammal, own 80 per cent stake in a Chennai TV channel named Kalaignar that was allegedly the recipient of a 200-crore kickback from the massive spectrum scam.
The CBI had earlier told the Supreme Court that it will file the first chargesheet in 2G scam against former Telecom Minister A Raja and others under Prevention of Corruption Act (PCA) for cheating and forgery by March 31.
Earlier on February 18, the DMK MP refuted reports that she had received summons from the CBI in connection with its probe into the 2G spectrum scam.
"I haven't got anything of that kind," said Kanimozhi when asked about reports that CBI may question her as part of its ongoing probe into the 2G scam.
When asked about the searches being carried by the CBI at the office of the DMK-owned television channel-Kalaignar TV -in connection with the 2G scam, she said she was not aware of it.
The CBI had on February 18 carried out searches at the office of the DMK-owned television channel-Kalaignar TV -in connection with the 2G scam. he CBI suspects that some amount of payoffs in the scam may have been diverted to the channel.
The investigating agency had alleged last month that a Rs. 200-crore cheque was sent from Mumbai to Chennai in 2009, which ended up with Kalaignar TV.
The probe into the 2G scam has shown links between Swan Telecom promoter Shahid Usman Balwa and Kalaignar TV. Balwa was the fourth high profile person arrested in connection with the scam.
The others arrested in connection with the case are A Raja, his personal secretary RK Chandolia and former Telecom Secretary Siddharth Behuria. (ANI)
